NEW HAVEN, CT-In this year’s edition of the Don Tonry Invitational, the University of New Hampshire Wildcats took first with their 195.800. Placing second was the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights with a 193.650. Yale Bulldogs as host placed third with a 191.475 and Southern Connecticut State University Owls scored a 187.875.

The meet was held in honor of the late Don Tonry, a former Olympian and local Gymnastics icon. [A Yale Daily News article by Maya Sweedler summed up his career.]
UB’s Hope Tralli won Vault by scoring a 9.775 edging UNH’s Meghan Pflieger and her 9.75 as well as Pflieger’s Nicole O’Leary who scored a 9.725.
Danielle Mulligan of UNH won the Bars title with a strong 9.9. Her teammate Jess Gracia put up a 9.825 as did UB’s Christine Liautaud.
On Beam, New Hampshire swept the top three places as Casey Lauter scored a 9.925, Lia Breeden had a 9.9 and Pflieger scored a 9.875.
On Floor it was Pflieger winning the event thanks to a 9.9. Yale’s Camilla Opperman took second with a 9.875, and Bridgeport’s Randi Cutolo scored a 9.85.
In the All Around, Lauter and Pflieger shared the title with 39.150’s edging their teammate Danielle Doolin’s 39.1.
Other top scorers:
On Vault, after Pflieger and O’Leary, Lauter had a 9.7. On Bars, after Mulligan and Gracia’s top performances, Doolin and Jennifer King both acquired 9.775s.
After UNH swept all places on Beam, Kelsey Aucoin’s 9.85 and Doolin’s 9.825 rounded out the counted scores. Over on Floor, Doolin, Aucoin, and Lauter all had 9.825s.

On Vault for UB, in addition to Tralli’s Vault win. Ajiea Hargrave and Kimberly Stewart posted 9.7s. Over on Uneven Bars in addition to Liautaud’s tie for second, Maritza Futch had a 9.775 and Kelsey Campbell hit a 9.725.
On Beam, Carol Chiles led the Purple Knights with a 9.825, Brianna Comport had a 9.75 and Rachel DiCarlo scored a 9.675 Lastly on Floor, after Cutolo’s third place finish, Kelly Aycock scored a 9.75 and Brittany Capozzi a 9.725 for the teams other top finishes. Also, Campbell scored a 38.65 as the team’s lone All Arounder.

Opperman led the Bulldogs on Vault with her 9.65 followed by Megan Ryan’s 9.6 and Anella Anderson’s 9.5. Tatiana Winkelman was first among her team on Uneven Bars with a 9.775, Ryan had a 9.725 and Anderson scored a 9.625.
On Beam, Winkelman led the team with a 9.7, Brittney Sooksengdao had a 9.675 and Roxanne Trachtenberg put up the team’s third best score of 9.475. Other than Opperman’s score on Floor, Kiarra Alleyne flipped to a 9.825 and Ryan had a 9.725. Finally, in the All Around, Ryan compiled a 38.125 and Anderson scored a 37.7.

Alexandra Avendano’s 9.625 was first among the Owls on Vault. Kylyn Dawkins and Tiffany Coleman had 9.6s. Kathleen Aberger swung to a 9.575 for the team’s best score on Uneven Bars. Jennifer Rochefort had a 9.55, and Kasey Kilmurray had a 9.5
Over on Beam, Nicole Pruchnik’s 9.6 led the team, Rotem Porat put up a 9.45, and Jasmine Zambrana’s 9.175 was third among the blue and white. Avendano scored a 9.825 for the team’s top floor score followed by Pruchnik’s 9.75, and Rachel de la Torre’s 9.625.
