Women’s Hockey: Brown tops Yale

New Haven, CT- In a clash of ECAC and Ivy League foes Brown took on Yale on Wednesday Night. It was a game in which Yale spent a great deal of time in the Brown end pressuring and prodding, trying to get the puck past Katie Jamieson. Early in the first a Yale goal was waved off after protests from the Brown bench. The visitors meanwhile got on the board first when Janice Yang swept in on Jaimie Leonoff and got it past the Yale keeper at 11:36. At the time no assists were announced but they were later awarded to Katelyn Landry and Paige Pyett. The score remained 1-0 until less than a minute to play in the period when Brown’s Lauren Vella teed up a shot from near the blue line and it got past the keeper anyway. Brown entered the second period up 2-0. Landry and Jessica Hoyle were given assists on that goal as well.

Women’s Hockey: Nutmeg Classic Game 2: Robert Morris vs. Yale

STORRS,CT- In the second game of the Nutmeg Classic, the Robert Morris Colonials and Yale Bulldogs went at it. RMU came in having lost only one game all season and Yale won only one, but the two teams would remain scoreless through 2. Each side had picked up 3 penalties in that time, but neither team capitalized on their power plays. After two periods RMU had put 19 shots on goal, and Yale had 8. This was up from RMU’s 12 in period 1, and 2 for Yale.
Women’s Hockey, Yale opens at home vs. Niagara

NEW HAVEN, CT- The Yale Bulldogs hosted the Niagara Purple Eagles in their home and season opener Friday night at Ingalls Rink. Despite the best efforts of the Bulldogs, Coach Josh Sciba’s visiting club would pick up the win over Joakim Flygh’s squad. Senior goaltender Genny Ladiges started for Yale, and opposite her Niagara’s Abby Ryplanski. Ladiges would face 35 shots, and make 30 saves, Ryplanski would face just 17 and saved 16 of them. NU is now 3-5 on the season, Yale is 0-1

Women’s Volleyball: Yale sweeps Harvard

NEW HAVEN, CT- Harvard and Yale have a bit of history between them as institutions, and this was carried onto the volleyball court Saturday evening as the Crimson took on the Yale Bulldogs, but were dispatched in 3 sets by the home team to the delight of the naturally partisan crowd.
In set 1, Yale got out and lead and hung onto it fending off a Harvard comeback or two. It was soon 12-8, and Yale had found points from the hard charging McHaney Carter, Mollie Rogers, Erica Reetz, Taylor Cramm, and Kendall Polan had all gotten in on the scoring. Harvard had picked up points from Erin Dooley, Sandra Lyn Fryhofer , Taylor Docter, and a service ace from Kristen Casey.
Women’s Volleyball: Columbia at Yale

NEW HAVEN, CT- The Yale Bulldogs would have face a determined opponent in the Columbia Lions Saturday evening in continuing Ivy League play. Coach Erin Appleman’s Yale squad would pull out to a 2 to zero set lead, only to have Jon Wilson’s Lions fight back to tie the match up 2-2 leading to a decisive set 5, which would also be a close one with the Bulldogs edging their opponents from the city, for the 3-2 set win.
