Women’s Volleyball: Hartford edges UMBC

WEST HARTFORD, CT- The University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers had a very impressive win streak going, only losing to the Hartford Hawks once in their history of meetings. At times it looked like each team was going to put the other away, but the two teams fought to a 2-2 tie after 4 sets, leading to a decisive fifth set which the Hawks largely dominated to pull out to a lead and hold it before an energetic crowd at the Auxiliary Gym (“The Aux” as I’ve taken to call it) Friday night.

Women’s Volleyball: UMBC tops Hartford 3-2 in fierce match.

WEST HARTFORD, CT- The UMBC Retrievers have been a tough opponent of the Hartford Hawks for several years and it was no different on Friday as the two conference opponents met in the Reich Family Pavilion. Hartford would pull out to a 2 sets to 1 lead but UMBC would take the last two sets to edge the Hawks. Before the match began Hartford honored Senior Lindsay Ford, the lone member of the senior class, some of the spectators also came bearing Ford masks which they displayed happily throughout the game. It was a raucous atmosphere.

Volleyball: UMBC at Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT-The Hartford Hawks continued their America East schedule as the Retrievers from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) arrived at the Reich Pavilion Volleyball gym for a Sunday afternoon match. Hartford would win a hard fought set 1, but it UMBC would pick up wins in close sets 2 and 3 before putting the home team away in set 4.

The America East leading University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers came into Hartford’s volleyball gym on a Friday night where a raucous crowd of U of H athletes and fans awaited them including Hartford President Walter Harrison.
