STORRS,CT- In the second game of the Nutmeg Classic, the Robert Morris Colonials and Yale Bulldogs went at it. RMU came in having lost only one game all season and Yale won only one, but the two teams would remain scoreless through 2. Each side had picked up 3 penalties in that time, but neither team capitalized on their power plays. After two periods RMU had put 19 shots on goal, and Yale had 8. This was up from RMU’s 12 in period 1, and 2 for Yale.
Men’s Basketball: CCSU gives them a hard game, but Robert Morris takes the win.
NEW BRITAIN, CT- The Robert Morris Colonials arrived in Detrick Gym 11-1 in the NEC to take on a Blue Devils team that was on a 4 game winning streak and had reached 6-6 in the all important conference standings. The hope for Central would be to upset RMU and capture an above five hundred record in conference, but the Colonials just did not let that happen. RMU’s Rob Robinson struck first but Central’s Devan Bailey matched that, and Markey’s Deans drained a 3. He later was fouled and hit a free throw to make it 6-2. RMU came back for 2, but Joe Seymore got on the board for CCSU. Robinson returned fire for the Colonials over the D, and it was 8-6, but Seymore then hit a three to the crowd’s delight as the Devils went up by 5.

NEW BRITAIN, CT- A key Northeast Conference match up between the Robert Morris Colonials and the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils unfolded on CCSU’s home gym last evening going all the way to five sets before it was decided. Linda Sagnelli’s Blue Devils had had their conference undefeated streak snapped by Long Island two weeks ago followed by a conference loss to Sacred Heart, but a win over Fairleigh Dickinson with a out of conference loss to Rhode Island also occurring within that span. Rob Thomas’s Colonials arrived with 6-3 conference record compared to Central’s 7-2 and both are one of four teams in the NEC with a winning conference record. Although Central won their last meeting on the road, RMU would pick up the win giving both teams the same record in NEC play.
