Women’s Volleyball: Let the Season Begin! Marist visits Hartford
by David F.P.
WEST HARTFORD, CT- In a perfect world hurricane’s wouldn’t hit and cause a ruckus and I would be able to sit through every game I attend, but in this case I had to make only a brief visit to Hartford’s Volleyball Gym to take in part of the match between Marist and Hartford. It was Hartford’s home opener and it drew a pumped up crowd including dignitaries and Howie the Hawk. Checking scores later it would turn out that Marist would take the match in a 5 set battle. But an exciting start to the season for everyone. I snapped a few modest photos. The season has just begun!
Marist tops Hartford Volleyball 3-1
by David F.P.
WEST HARTFORD, CT- As loud music blared in the quads nearby, fans filled into the Reich Family Pavilion and its volleyball specific gym to take in the home opener between the Red Foxes of Marist College, and the Hartford Hawks. It would be a back and forth match with neither team gaining the advantage for very long in each set. Marist pulled out to a 1-0 lead, but Hartford roared back to take set 2. After two close sets to follow Marist picked up their 2nd win and the third necessary set to take the match victory in front of a packed house.

Brief notes: The Hawks open their home season in the cozy confines of their volleyball exclusive gym versus a familiar opponent over the years. Marist can get back to .500 with a win, and Hartford can pull to 3-1 with a victory of their own on home turf. Following the night’s action, Marist will head home to hold their own tournament this weekend. Also this weekend,tThe Hawks will cross West Hartford to get to New Britain and the awaiting CCSU Blue Devils and their tournament.
Marist at Hartford Volleyball (9-11-07)
With some time in my schedule I wandered over to the University of Hartford to take in part of the Marist vs. Hartford match. The interesting thing about UHart’s court is that you have to literally cross the back of it to get to the seats, so everyone who visits has to dodge flying balls or wait for a pause in the action to move. The Hawks were welcoming in the Marist Red Foxes.
