Women’s Volleyball: Holy Cross at Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, CT- The Central Connecticut Blue Devils hosted the Holy Cross Crusaders Wednesday night in Detrick Gymnasium in a non conference affair. The purple clad visitors made it a fight but in the end CCSU took a 3 set win.

The scoring began when Jennifer Waddill received a set from CCSU Setter Danielle Gasser and knocked it in for a kill, 2 more points would follow and CCSU was building a lead. Cross picked up two points including a kill from Alicia Swearingen, but this time Gasser set the ball up for Sara DeLacey who smashed it home. Kathleen Colpoys returned fire for the Crusaders with a whap off a defender and out of bounds, though CCSU’s lead would increase to 6-3 due to some of HC miscues.

Women’s Volleyball: Hartford v. Holy Cross

WEST HARTFORD, CT- The Hartford Hawks picked up their first home win of the season and rebounded from three losses on the road this weekend with a 3 to 0 win over the Holy Cross Crusaders Wednesday night. The Hawks won 25-16, 25-16, and then fended off a resurgent HC team to win set 3 25-21.

Kami Nethersole started off the scoring for Hartford with one of her many spikes. Holy Cross got on the board, but Hartford started to roll with both Kami and Sareeta Nethersole picking up kills and soon it was 8-4. Holy Cross called a time out but Hartford kept rolling. Hannah Grace Stokes pulled the Crusaders within 3 with her whap off the defense but Hartford kept scoring even as Holy Cross managed to keep pace albeit a few points behind.

Women’s Volleyball: In a battle royale, Hartford tops Holy Cross in five sets.

WORCESTER,MA- The Hartford Hawks got their first win of the season in a battle royale match against Holy Cross on the Crusaders home court tuesday night. The Hawks pulled out to a 2-0 set lead, but the Crusaders battled back to tie the match at 2. In the decisive 5th set, Holy Cross grabbed the early lead, but Hartford swept back in to win the set and match.

Women’s Soccer: CCSU tops Holy Cross 3 to 2.

After entering the half tied at 2 all,  Central’s Beth Lloyd headed a ball past the goaltender for the Crusaders to take the lead and earn the eventual win for the Blue Devils before the home crowd at Arute Field.

Central Connecticut State tops Holy Cross 3-1 in Volleyball

NEW BRITAIN, CT- There are two division 1 schools with volleyball programs on either border of West Hartford, and the Holy Cross Crusaders have taken on both of them in the past two weeks. This time, the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils of New Britain played host to HC. The Blue Devils would pick up the victory 3 sets to 1, but Holy Cross made it a very difficult ride for Central.
