PISCATAWAY, NJ- The Rutgers club gymnastics team held its first home meet Saturday morning, and in came reigning national champion URI, and Maryland’s club team as well. The Club Terps picked up the win ending URI’s incredibly long unbeaten streak though URI’s Lindsay Diamond tore up the scoring on the individual level.

The Club teams are a mix of both recreational gymnasts and gymnasts who are performing skills close to the competition level. More teams have been sprouting up in the wake of either the lack of a varsity team, or just a desire by gymnasts to continue the sport in college though not at the varsity level. There are dozens of clubs part of the NAIGC organization, who will be holding nationals in April.
